Wireless Keyboard

The wireless keyboard is a desktop and laptop computer device used to key in letters into the CPU (central processing unit) or motherboard. The wireless keyboard superseded the keyboard that uses a cord to connect to the CPU or motherboard. Furthermore, the wireless keyboard was designed similar to the typewriter's QWERTY keyboard.

The wireless keyboard makes use of technologies such as Bluetooth, infrared, or a radio frequency. The wireless keyboard comes with a receiver that is connected to the CPU or motherboard through a USB port. The receiver of the wireless keyboard reads the data from keyboard inputs and transmits the data into the CPU or motherboard.

The wireless keyboard may come in different variations like the gaming keyboard, multimedia keyboard, and virtual keyboard. The gaming keyboard has special dedicated keys for game functions. The multimedia keyboard, on the other hand, has keys for regularly used programs and applications. Finally, the virtual keyboard uses an infrared device that casts an infrared keyboard on a surface and detects which keys are being used.

Using a Wireless Keyboard

One advantage of using a wireless keyboard is that it eliminates the clutter of wires. Also, the wireless keyboard may be positioned wherever the person is more comfortable to work within the reach of the receiver.

Acquiring a Wireless Keyboard

A wireless keyboard may be purchased from a computer store, an electronics shop or from a computer parts and accessories store. The wireless keyboard may also be purchased from second-hand gadgets shops or online.

A purchased wireless keyboard often comes with an installation manual. Usually, the manual states that the receiver be connected to the CPU or motherboard and that batteries be supplied into the wireless keyboard.
